Malvasia Festival: May 19-20-21 in Sala Baganza

Malvasia Festival – now into its 22nd edition – waits for you in Sala Baganza (Parma) from May 19 to 21!

 A “Marie Louise of Austria” themed dinner  will be central to the Friday, May 19 inauguration in the brand new restaurant  Les Caves. The place is housed in the enchanting cellars of the Sanvitale Castle of Fontanellato. Numerous initiatives will be held on Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21, too.

The Malvasia weekend will offer the very best local and national productions. Wine artisans, pork butchers, pastry chefs, cheese makers will be putting on a real “citadel of taste”.

A very full programme consisting of guided tours, tastings, show cookings, toasts, activities for kids, shows.

The Farnesian Garden, the Sanvitale Castle, the Carrega Woods Natural Park, the village streets, the wine cellars and the surrounding hills will be the locations of the event.

Conventions, exhibitions and experts-led meetings will be organised inside the historic Sanvitale Castle, whereas in the Wine Museum visitors will be able to retrace the history of wine in the Parma area.

As is tradition, on Saturday, May 21, the “Cosèta d’Or” Prize – from the name of the ancient bowl that was once used in inns for wine drinking – will be awarded to the year’s best Malvasia wine of the area.

During the Festival, visitors will be given the possibility to tour the Wine Museum and the Sanvitale Castle: the Apotheosis Room – the 18th-century masterpiece by Florentine artist Sebastiano Galeotti – will be opened especially for the occasion, with the possibility of guided tours.

Only Festival in Italy dedicated to Malvasia wine as a typical product.
